Comparison
Wix is a capable drag-and-drop builder with hosting, SSL and a solid set of SEO tools, and it suits a solo attorney who enjoys building and editing a small site. A managed site suits a firm that would rather not: the studio designs, writes and maintains a page per matter type, office and attorney, with intake routed and weekly updates handled.
What it is
Wix is a website builder with a drag-and-drop editor. Paid plans include a custom domain and hosting, and HTTPS is on for all sites. Its SEO tools include meta tags, an automatic XML sitemap, bulk 301 redirects, structured data markup, an editable robots.txt and canonical tags.
Wix has an App Market for added features, Wix Studio for agencies, and a Marketplace to hire experts. Wix states that a Wix site is hosted and operated on Wix's servers and cannot be exported to run elsewhere.
The builder is not the bottleneck; time is
Wix gives a firm real tools, including structured data and redirects. What it cannot give is time. A firm with several attorneys and practice areas needs dozens of pages written carefully to advertising rules and updated when people and fees change. On Wix that is your evening work; on a managed plan it is ours.
Portability matters over years
Wix says plainly that sites stay on its servers. That is fine for many businesses. A growing firm that may later change providers should weigh it: on our plans the domain is the firm's and content is exported to you on cancellation.
Apps add features and weight
Apps are convenient; each one can add scripts to the page. We keep pages light by design and hold them to 90+ PageSpeed, which is especially useful when a firm pays for search clicks.
Side by side
Twelve things a law firm should compare. Statements about Wix come from its own published pages, listed under sources, or describe it in general terms.
| What matters | Wix | AttorneyWebStudio |
|---|---|---|
| Speed and Core Web Vitals | Managed by Wix; varies with the template, media and apps used. | Hand-coded static pages served from Cloudflare's edge, 90+ PageSpeed on mobile and desktop, guaranteed and kept. |
| SEO control | Meta tags, XML sitemap, bulk 301 redirects, robots.txt and canonical tags. | A page per matter type, per office and per attorney, with written titles, canonicals, sitemaps and redirects, done for you. |
| Schema and JSON-LD | Structured data markup is supported in Wix's SEO tools. | LegalService, LocalBusiness per office, Person, Service, FAQPage and BreadcrumbList, generated from the same data as the page. |
| AEO and GEO readiness | Depends on how the firm writes and structures pages. | Answer-first pages with FAQ blocks, an llms.txt file and consistent names for the firm, offices and attorneys. |
| Hosting and security | Hosting included on paid plans; HTTPS on all sites. | Cloudflare hosting, SSL, monitoring and versioned deploys inside the fee. No plugins or CMS login to secure. |
| Maintenance burden | Low technically; content updates are the firm's job. | None for the firm. Weekly detail updates plus revisions, handled by the studio. |
| Who does the work | The firm, or an expert hired through Wix Marketplace. | A designer, a developer and a writer at the studio, with a person to email. |
| Content and blog | Wix Blog is built in; the firm writes the posts. | 2 researched, cited articles a week (3 on Multi-Office), never written as legal advice. |
| Design quality | Templates, customized in the editor. | A design system made for the firm and applied to every page, office and profile. |
| Accessibility and compliance pages | Depends on the template and the pages the firm adds. | Privacy policy, terms, cookie consent that gates scripts, an accessibility statement, WCAG 2.2 AA in mind, and the advertising disclaimers the firm specifies. |
| Cost model | Tiered monthly plans; prices vary by location. See the official pricing page. | From $137 a month, plus a $797 build fee invoiced only after launch. No fixed term. |
| Lock-in and ownership | Wix states sites must be hosted and operated on Wix's servers; no export to run elsewhere. | The domain stays in the firm's name; on cancellation the firm gets an export of its content and articles within 14 days. |
Be honest
You are a solo attorney who wants a small site and enjoys building it yourself.
You want to change the layout whenever you like, without asking anyone.
You need an App Market feature, such as a specific booking app, and are happy to manage it.
And when we are
You have more than a few practice areas, offices or attorneys to keep accurate.
You want pages written for you, answer-first and within advertising rules.
You want routed intake and, on the AI Engine plans, calls and messages answered after hours.
Switching, or using both
Because Wix sites cannot be exported, a move is a rebuild, planned so nothing that ranks is lost.
- 01We list every page and blog post on the Wix site and agree what to keep, rebuild or merge.
- 02We rebuild on the new structure and prepare 301 redirects from every old Wix URL.
- 03We move the domain to point at the new site at launch, then check search console. Your Wix plan can then lapse.

In their words
Our after-hours calls used to go to voicemail and get returned the next afternoon. Now the phone is answered, the details are in our CRM with a summary, and the attorney who handles that matter type sees it first thing.

People looking for a defense lawyer are on their phone and they are not patient. The old site made them wait. This one opens straight away and the call button is right there on every page.

Most of our inquiries come in the evening, often by text. The chat and SMS agents take the details, never comment on the case, and book the consultation with the right attorney. Our team starts the day with a clean list.

Questions about Wix and AttorneyWebStudio
01Is Wix good enough for a law firm website?
For a small practice with time to build and update it, often yes. Wix includes hosting, SSL and good SEO tools. The limits for a growing firm are time, structure across offices, and the fact that Wix sites cannot be exported.
02Does Wix support schema markup?
Yes. Wix lists structured data markup among its SEO tools. On our sites the schema is generated for every page from the same data as the visible content, so it cannot drift.
03Can we move our Wix site to AttorneyWebStudio?
Yes, as a rebuild. Wix states its sites cannot be exported, so we rebuild the pages and redirect every old URL to its new page.
04Who writes the pages?
On Wix, you do or someone you hire. On our plans the studio writes the practice area pages and 2 researched articles a week, and you approve.
05Can we hire a Wix expert instead?
Yes, Wix runs a Marketplace for hiring experts. Compare what happens after launch: who updates attorney pages and fees every week, and who writes.
06Which is faster on a phone?
It depends on the Wix template and apps. Our pages are static and hand-coded, with a 90+ PageSpeed guarantee.
07Is Wix cheaper?
Wix plans cost less per month than a managed plan. The comparison worth making includes the hours someone at the firm spends building, writing and updating, and what those hours are worth.
08Do you offer an editor like Wix?
No. Changes are emailed or raised in your client portal and published by the studio, with weekly updates and monthly revisions included.
